the "calm girl" coded guide

the "calm girl" coded guide

Somewhere along the way, wellness stopped being about green smoothies and Pilates.

At least, it did for me.

The older I get, the more I realize that the healthiest women I know aren't necessarily the ones with the perfect routines.

They're the ones who know how to take care of themselves.

Not in a performative way.

In a quiet, everyday kind of way.

The kind that doesn't always look exciting on Instagram, but completely changes how they experience life.

Here's what I think defines the modern wellness woman.

1. She nourishes her body instead of punishing it

I used to think being "healthy" meant earning my meals.

Working out harder.

Eating less.

Being stricter.

Now I think it's the opposite.

The healthiest relationship you can have with your body is one built on nourishment.

She eats enough.

She drinks her water.

She enjoys dessert without turning it into a personality crisis.

She moves because it makes her feel good, not because she has to earn dinner.

She's stopped seeing food as something she needs to control.

Instead, she sees it as something that helps her live.

That shift changes everything.

2. She regulates her nervous system before she reacts

This might be the biggest life upgrade no one talks about.

You don't realize how much of your life is being driven by a dysregulated nervous system until you finally experience what calm feels like.

Not every text needs an immediate reply.

Not every opinion deserves your energy.

Not every inconvenience is an emergency.

The wellness woman knows that protecting her nervous system isn't soft, it's smart.

Sometimes emotional maturity looks like taking a walk before responding.

Sleeping on the decision.

Putting the phone down.

Or simply recognizing that not every feeling requires immediate action.

3. She chooses peace over chaos

For the longest time, I confused chaos with excitement.

Always being busy.

Always saying yes.

Always chasing the next thing.

Now?

Peace feels so much more luxurious.

She chooses relationships that feel safe.

Friendships that don't leave her drained.

A calendar with breathing room.

Weekends without guilt.

Because she's realized that constantly living in survival mode isn't a personality trait.

It's exhausting.

These days, one of my favourite questions is:

"Will this add to my peace, or take away from it?"

It's surprisingly helpful.

4. She protects her energy like it's her most valuable asset

Your time is valuable.

But your energy?

That's priceless.

You can always make more plans.

You can always earn more money.

But if you're constantly pouring from an empty cup, eventually there's nothing left to give.

The wellness woman has stopped trying to be available to everyone.

She knows that boundaries aren't selfish.

Rest isn't laziness.

And saying "no" isn't rude.

It's responsible.

Because every "yes" you give away is energy you're choosing not to keep for yourself.

I think we've spent too long believing wellness had to look perfect.

The expensive supplements.

The flawless morning routine.

The aesthetic fridge.

But real wellness feels much quieter than that.

It's eating enough.

Sleeping enough.

Laughing with people you love.

Moving your body because you enjoy it.

Walking away from things that steal your peace.

Learning how to regulate your emotions instead of letting them regulate you.

Maybe becoming the healthiest version of yourself isn't about adding another habit.

Maybe it's about becoming someone who consistently chooses herself.

Again and again.

And honestly?

I think that's the most beautiful kind of wellness there is.
